Pressure Cooker Biriyani

I have always made biriyani in my own special way where I make the rice and chicken curry separately and then arrange the rice on the curry to let it sim.Its not authentic but it works for me.This time I saw a lady preparing biriyani in a pressure cooker and the final product looked perfect so I couldn't wait to try it.
First the chicken curry was made in a pressure cooker. Rice was half-cooked in a separate vessel in excess water. Then in a big pressure cooker she arranged the chicken curry and rice in layers. Each layer of rice was lavishly garnished with ghee , fried onions, coriander leaves and cashew nuts. Then she let it sim for 20 mins and thats it.
I tried it and this is what my biriyani looked like.

Served hot with papadams, pickle and raita.Yum Yum. The ultimate comfort food for hibernating weekends.

Drive thru Cubbon Park

Since the arrival of our Swift whom I have christened Miblu (as in short form for Midnight Black!!), my much awaited Bangalore explorations have finally begun. A drive through Cubbon park was really relaxing for me , though not so much for Unni coz we ended up by losing our way.
There is just so much greenery and trees bend over from the sides of the road to give you shade while you drive through admiring mother nature.

Wonder if Unni had a chance to observe all this though. He was busy figuring out which way to go.Next time i am gonna go there with my camera to take some decent snaps.

Amma's blore visit-2011

Amma visited Bangalore after Sunil chettan's wedding. It was a totaly holiday mood for me.Its good to come home when you know mom is there to take care of you and everything.I had a fun week which implied i didnt have to wonder what to cook, when to clean, when will i sleep etc etc. Plus all the shopping was an added bonus.

We bought the whole of Bangalore Central.I got sari from soch, a clutch from baggit, 2 cute jewellery sets.

We had a hearty lunch at a palace style restaurant in UB city.We were served food on golden plates and we drank from golden goblets. It was a fun week but it ended pretty soon.Amma went back to Abudhabi and we went back to our routine. Now am back to wondering when to cook..when to clean...and feel all grown up again. It ain't all fun and games after you grow up.Childhood days are always the most glorious days.
